Other Options

• Dress up your Roman Shades with banding.  Banding can be added to the bottom of the shade and valance, to the sides of the shades or be inset from the edges of the shade.
• Valances can be added to any Roman Shade.  A standard Roman Shade will have the fabric fall off the front of the headrail; commonly referred to as Waterfall Style.
• Hunter Douglas Roman Shades (Vignettes) come in a variety of styles, patterns and colors.

Things to Consider : Roman Shades

• Roman Shades can be an excellent room darkening treatment.  Be sure to specify blackout lining and install as an outside mount with a minimum of 4″ overlap around the opening.  Drapery Side Panels can be added to further reduce light gaps.
• Due to the weight or fabric and size of opening, Roman Shades may not be a practical solution for sliding glass doors or very large openings.
• Hobbled Roman Shades that are installed as an outside mount or as an inside mount with limited depth will reveal the edge of the pleats which may be undesirable. To avoid this, install as an inside mount and completely recess the treatment. Approximately 4″ of depth will be required to achieve this.
• Most Roman Shades gather as they raise creating a larger vertical stacking of fabric compared to other window treatments.  Please keep this in mind when selecting Roman Shades as an inside mount application.
• Some Hunter Douglas Roman Shades (Vignettes) roll up into a headrail rather than gathering like a traditional Roman Shade.  This style of shade may be right for you if space is a constraint.
